Eurasian Journal of Educational Research, 15 pp…,… / 2004 PSİKOLOJİK DANIŞMADA ETİK İKİLEMLER: ETİK KARAR VERME SÜRECİ ETHICAL DILEMMAS İN PSYCHOLOGICAL COUNSELING: ETHICAL DECISION MAKING PROCESS Tuncay ERGENE ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was to provide counselors with a framework for sound ethical decision making. First, ethical guiding principles that are globally valuable in ethical decisin making were presented. Second, an ethical decision making process that counselors can utilize as they address ethical dillemmas in their work vvere given. These moral principles are principles, autonomy, nonmaleficence, beneficence, justice, and fidelity, each absolute truths in and of themselves. By exploring the ethical dilemma in regard to these principles a counselor may come to a better understanding of the conflicting issues. Counselors are faced with siruations vvhich require effective ethical decision making ability. This sequential, ethical decision making process has seven steps in approacing ethical dillemmas. The presented ethical decision making process can be helpful for counselors in working with ethical dilemmas.
