Curriculum Vitae Feroz Ahmad Date of Birth: 26 January 1938 Delhi, India ACADEMIC EXPERIENCE 1955-1958: B.A.(Hons.) degree in History with Medieval Islamic History as the special subject, St. Stephen's College, Delhi University 1958-1961: B.A. (Hons.) degree in History with special reference to the History of the Near and Middle East, at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. 1961-1966: PhD. (London). Thesis on "The Committee of Union and Progress in Turkish Politics, 1908-1913". (The years19621964 were spent in Turkey doing field work, with visits to the Middle East). 1966-1967: Senior Research Fellow at the School of International Affairs, Columbia University, New York. 1967: Joined University of Massachusetts at Boston as Assistant Professor of History. 1970: Associate Professor. 1970-1972: On leave of absence, spent in Turkey and India doing research on contemporary Turkey for the book commissioned in l968 by the Royal Institute of International Affairs, London. 1975: Granted tenure. 1976-1977: Sabbatical year. Social Science Research Council Fellowship and Research Fellow at the Center for Middle Eastern Studies, Harvard University. 1978: Professor of History. 1980-1981: H.A.R. Gibb Visiting Scholar at the Center for Middle Eastern Studies, Harvard University. 1983-1984: Sabbatical year, spent doing research in Turkey and England on a Social Science Research Council Fellowship.
