WELCOME TO The Supreme Lodge of Benevolent Order of Brothers Whose name was fortunately soon changed to KIWANIS 2 KIWANIS ä ä Was founded in 1915 in Detroit, MI ä Today has 280,000 Adult Members in 8500 Clubs in 96 Countries ä 320,000 Youth Members Soon spread to Canada, then to Europe, Asia, Latin America, Africa and Russia 3 KIWANIS ä Sponsors 150,000 Service Projects each year ä Raises $100 Million each year ä Invests 18 Million service hours each year ä Service hours = more than next three largest service clubs combined 3 KIWANIS DISTAFF SIDE ä ä Women were admitted in 1987 Today Women Represent 24% of Membership ä In Our Club Women Represent 44% of Membership ä In recent years exactly half of the Presidents have been women 3 KIWANIS IS ä ä A worldwide voluntary service orgn. ä Defining Statement: Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time. Individuals who want to become personally involved in making their community a better place to live 3 KIWANIS IS NOT ä A social club, although fun, fellowship and friendship are an important part ä Affiliated with any religious or political organization ä ä A secret society with secret rituals A political circle.
