In this second issue we’ve focused on energy efficiency education. We saw for ourselves the enthusiasm youngsters can bring to energy efficiency. You will read in our Efficient Energy Use with Uncle Engineer booklet that together with our project partners we have already had a big impact in the way children approach energy and appreciate its true value. Energy efficiency education is one of the best investments of BSBEEP Project. Not only for children but also for those of you who work in industry there is a feature on energy efficiency in buildings. Our projects are helping to map a path towards a real change in this sector, but we need the support of governments at all levels: national, regional and local. Elsewhere in the newsletter you’ll see the first in a series of articles on our activities within the framework of the BSBEEP Project in different Black Sea Basin countries. JOIN BSBEEP NOW One Small Step From You One Giant Leap For Black Sea Basin Whether you’re a specialist or a generalist, I am sure there will be something in our newsletter for you. It’s easier if we catch them earlier, then they will internalize the message.” The overall objective of “Efficient Energy Use with Uncle Engineer” booklet is simple: if you convince children today, you won’t need to reeducate adults tomorrow. Tomorrow’s adults won’t need telling that energy is a scarce resource. 4 The number of electronic gadgets in children’s rooms is increasing. They have real purchasing power. If they leave their gadgets on standby, that’s a waste of energy. These are the consumers of tomorrow. They will be buying homes and cars. If you make them aware early then by the age of 16 or 17 they will try to apply what they have learned. Scientists, teachers, public relations professionals and information technology experts have had to tread a fine line between fun and education. The teachers were our starting point; they helped to keep us on track, if we had gone too much to the fun side the project would have failed. We found we needed to move into the fun after getting the content right”. The Booklet is appreciated by all other BSBEEP project partners as an innovative and useful study with regards to promoting of the BSBEEP Project reaching to different target groups and providing sustainability of project by increasing effectiveness of the communication plan.
